The Castlerahan GFC Crest

The club crest was designed by JP Brady, Castlerahan in 2000 and is aimed to graphically represent some of the history associated with the Castlerahan area. It is planned that all new jersies purchased by the club going forward will have the crest printed on it.

The castle in the logo is the symbol of the old castle of Rathain O' Raghallaigh which stood in what is now called the Moat in the heart of Castlerahan. The Moat is a water canal which surrounds the castle for protection, approximately 6' ft deep. The church symbol (in front of logo) represents the old chruch of which the ruins still remain in the graveyard close to the Moat.

JP Brady, Castlerahan GFC also hopes to get involved in promoting other GAA clubs to submit history items to him of their local area in order to design a crest for that particular club (i.e. something in line with the Castlerahan crest idea) so that in the future their players at school level would wear their club jersey with pride and involve a bit of club history as well.

Some clubs already have developed their own crest but may be interested in creating a club plaque such as below which was created for Castlerahan. This is ideal for hanging in a place of prominence such as the dressing rooms or club house.

The plaque includes the club crest & GAA logo on the left, the GAA symbol in the centre and the county crest & logo on the right with a mahogeny frame, glass front and velvet backing with a built in mini light for night time glow.

If interested in having a crest designed or plaque created JP will be more than interested in helping to do this. Phone (049) 8544997. If you further details by email send mail to web_master@castlerahangfc.com
